BAJA Trade and Investment

Regional Industrial Vocation

Baja California is part of the Cali-Baja (www.calibaja.com) cross-border Mega Region with a strong vocation oriented towards the development of industrial activities where most of the raw materials can be found in the region, particularly in the entity, featuring agricultural, livestock, fishing, and mining products, all of which are necessary in the procurement of products in industrial processes.

With a well-structured industrial sector and as a part of the Mega Region, an economic development oriented towards national and international markets has been achieved. Mexico has over 50 Free Trade Agreements with different countries, facilitating the import of goods used in production processes, generating greater possibilities for industrial and business relations in the international scene.

The establishment of the industrial structure produces unfinished goods that will be integrated into a production chain for the assembly of the finished products thus; industries shall choose a direction to follow in order to improve the exploitation of their production. It is possible to integrate several production chains, such as those of consumer electronics in Tijuana, a city with a cluster of integrating phases. The most favorable natural conditions are those directly oriented to the agricultural, glass, machinery and electronic devices, ceramic, paper, brewery, and wine chains.

The industrial vocations in the region can be identified as follows:
