Mexicali

Ferromex rail line is the private company that provides rail service to Mexicali. It composed Joint Venture with 50% Union Pacific. This means that when the train crosses the border from Mexicali to Calexico, CA Union Pacific is the company that offers the rail service, so the cargo remains in the same company.

From the Mexican side, the cargo can be moved from Mexicali to any city in the country.
For instance the shipment can be freight to Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City, etc.

The NAFTA Rail Corridor will benefit both sides of the border (Mexico and USA), increasing opportunities for manufacturing companies in Mexicali. This project consists of a 2 lane railway connecting Mexicali in Baja California and Los Angeles in California.

Tijuana

Railroad operations are under administration of the State Government of Baja California and are operated by Carrizo & Gorge. This is a short rail that goes from Tijuana to Tecate, Baja California. This short line moves cargo such as lumber and agricultural goods for the brewery in Tecate and operates once a day.

Tecate has a border crossing by rail to Campo, California. The connection from Campo to Calexico, California is ready for cargo purposes. Therefore, any cargo can be moved from Tijuana to Mexicali and to the rest of Mexico.

Tijuana has a daily connection to San Diego. Rail America is a Noth America Company that operates in the US. For more detailed information please go directly to http://www.railamerica.com

A connection to Los Angeles is available through BNSF and from there a connection to Union Pacific can be done to the rest of the United States and Canada.
